Motivational Interdisciplinary Activities for Students

Understanding the Young Adolescent
Audience: Teachers/Parents
Suggested Time: 1hr, 3hrs, or 6hrs
Sharing multiple experiences that will impact and change or validate the way you view and work with adolescents.
Why Some Teenagers Don't Do Drugs
Audience: Teachers/Parents/Teenagers
Suggested Time: 1hr
Sharing the results of 1000 interviews with teenagers over a span of several years. You will learn the reasons why many of them don't do drugs.
Pre-TAKS Motivational Talk to Students
Audience: Elementary and Middle School Students
Suggested Time: 1hr
Students will be given several test-taking strategies that assist in increasing test scores. Students will be motivated to do their best in the TAKS test. The topic is presented as an interactive Magic Show to keep students' interest and attention.
Bullying
Audience: Teachers/Students
Suggested time: 3hrs or 6hrs
Audience will develop an understanding of the "Bully" and the "Victim of Bullying" and will learn effective strategies for what the school, staff, and students can do in dealing with "bullies" and the "victims of bullying."
A Closer Look at TEKS & TAKS
Audience: Elementary and Middle School Teachers/Librarians/Administrators
Suggested Time: 6hrs
Participants will:
- Interpret and internalize grade level TEKS
- Analyze TAKS item analysis and structure of TAKS test
- Use knowledge gained to develop teaching strategies that will improve student performance on TAKS
The Link: Positive Classrooms Lead to Success in Academics
Audience: Teachers
Suggested Time: 3hrs or 6hrs
A motivational talk for teachers sharing the positive experiences and successful strategies from 34 years of teaching. This talk will address strategies that yield a positive classroom environment which lead to success in academics.
Other topics may be available upon request. All sessions are conducted in English, Spanish, or bilingually (English & Spanish).
